Melissa rutz biography

From the young shy ballet Melissa Rutz began her training at age four at Star Dance Studio in San Francisco. Three years later, she found herself at the prestigious SAN FRANCISCO BALLET SCHOOL for seven years under the direction of Lola DeAvila.

Growing up in the Bay Melissa Rutz, a dance inspiration to West Coast Swing communities all over the world, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She is suddenly facing a huge disruption to every aspect of her life, especially the career she has dedicated decades to.

Melissa began her training at age DWCS’ first exposure to Melissa Rutz was at Seattle Easter Swing (SES) , where her dance technique clearly stood out in the Classic piece she did with Arjay Centeno. Melissa won the Novice division at that event and there has been no looking back.

Melissa Rutz began her training at a young age with the San Francisco Ballet School. She has a B.A. in Dance and has an extensive background in classical ballet, ballroom, theater arts, Lindy Hop & West Coast Swing.
